A public interest litigation challenging main opposition party in the state assembly Shiv Sena joining the BJP government in state has been posted for hearing on December 8.

The PIL, filed in the Bombay High Court by social activist Ketan Tirodkar, contends that Sena joining the government by taking cabinet berths for its leaders goes against the rules of the House. The PIL was mentioned before a bench of chief justice Mohit Shah and justice BP Colabawala. It also said members of the opposition party can't switch over to the ruling benches at least for six months.

The PIL prayed that Speaker Haribhau Bagde and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis be directed to frame rules to prevent opposition leader Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena from joining the cabinet in any capacity for six months.
