A public interest litigation was filed in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, seeking to remove the ban on the BBC documentary, 'India's Daughter'. "We have petitioned that the ban be removed from the documentary. I have submitted the CD of the documentary in the court so that the court can view it and examine the case," advocate VK Anand told the media.

"The court must examine whether the film actually violates any rights, and whether the public has a right to view the documentary or whether the government is right [to ban it]," he added. The documentary on the December 16, 2012 gang rape, includes an interview of Mukesh Singh, who is among the six men convicted for the gruesome crime.

The government banned its telecast in India, with parties across the political spectrum uniting in an endeavour to stop its broadcast.
