Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is currently facing a lot of flak for not reaching out to the stranded people on time. There have been reports of army personnel being attacked by people agitated about relief not reaching on time. In an interview to Zee News, Omar Abdullah tries to set the record straight.

Abdullah says he has been proactive in expediting the relief process, and that they have been trying their best. He says that in places where the army has not been allowed to enter, they will airdrop relief materials. Omar also clarified that all communication lines of the state government were cut at one point in time. In the first flood review meeting, six officials devised a rescue plan with the help of the army, which slowly materialised into a massive evacuation mission, he said.

On being asked about interruptions to the rescue work, Omar hinted at a larger conspiracy. All those who want the government and administration to fail will try to hamper the rescue work, he said, adding that it was unfortunate that such efforts to derail the relief process were being made.
