Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi said on Friday that the nation's citizens do not only want a change of government, but also have made up their minds to punish the UPA and the Congress. "It is not just that the people want to change the government. They also want to punish the UPA and the Congress leaders so that no one loots the country's resources like they have done. Just see how they have cheated the people of India," Modi said at a rally in Hoshirapur.

He also criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for not doing enough for Punjab. "The love that I have got from Punjab, I haven't forgotten. I am surprised that Manmohan Singh used to teach here, but has not done anything here." He asked if anything has changed in the last ten years. "A lot of hollow promises have been made, people are fed up. Has anything changed in your lives during the last ten years of the mother-son duo rule? Except destroying this country, they have done nothing else," Modi added.

Modi rued the fact that the drug culture is taking a toll of the youth in Punjab and attacked the centre for not securing the nation's borders. "They could not provide security to our borders, and that's why the drug culture has thrived here, and brings tears to the eyes of mothers living in this place. It is our prime target to see that the security of this country is taken care off," Modi said.

He attacked the Congress for not taking any steps to check on cereals and ensure that they do not rot. "The Supreme Court had even said give away the excess vegetables produced but the arrogant mother-son duo sold it to manufacturers who produce liquor. This government isn't concerned about the poor or the farmers," Modi said.
