PDP youth leader escapes terror attack in Kashmir

Unknown terrorists fired some gunshots, however, there was no loss of life or injury in the incident

Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a case after People's Democratic Party (PDP) youth president Waheed-ur Rehman Para reported that terrorists fired at his vehicle and that he was attacked in the central Kashmir's Budgam district.

The incident occurred on Monday evening when he was travelling in his bulletproof vehicle. Unknown terrorists fired some gunshots, however, there was no loss of life or injury in the incident.

Para later reported the matter to the police which lodged an FIR and started investigation. "We have received a complaint and we have registered an FIR. He had called us and we immediately registered an FIR and set the investigation into motion," said Tejinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam.

Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah was quick to condemn the attack on Para. "Strongly condemn the attack on PDP leader Waheed Para. Threats & violence are not to way to address differences or to change opinions," tweeted Omar.

Para, a close confidant of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was appointed secretary sports council during the PDP-BJP government. He was instrumental in organising a massive sports conclave in Srinagar few months ago which was also attended by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. However, he quit from the Sports Council after the collapse of the collation government.
