PDP and BJP hail 'growth-oriented' state budget presented by Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu

The coalition government termed the budget proposals as a "mission-mode approach to address the issues plaguing the developmental process in the state".

Jammu and Kashmir's ruling coalition partners PDP and BJP have hailed the state budget, presented by Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu on Sunday, as a "growth-oriented policy document" aimed at meaningful allocation of resources.

In a joint statement, PDP and BJP spokespersons said the budget encompasses short, medium and long-term measures for ushering Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions into "a new era of development, growth, stability and empowerment".

Hailing the budget for providing lot of clarity and much needed direction that will set the agenda for positive growth and ease of doing business, they said a clear road map has been laid in the budget for the political, economic and social uplift of the state and its people with focus on traditional and job-intensive economic activities like agriculture, horticulture, handicrafts, power and tourism.

Describing the budget as "outstanding with a focused growth trajectory", they said it is broadly is in line with the expectations of the people of the state from the PDP-BJP coalition government. They termed the budget proposals as a "mission-mode approach to address the issues plaguing the developmental process in the state".

"The direction given in the budget will set into motion the process of building a new Jammu and Kashmir on sound lines with focus on inclusive growth," the statement said and added that "it will set the tone for an entirely new developmental process for various sectors in the state".

"In the social sector, women and girl child specific welfare measures are of immense significance and will go a long way in addressing the areas of concern," they said and added the creation of around 3,000 posts for regularisation of daily-rated workers is a "laudable measure".

PDP and BJP have also hailed the pro-employee measures enumerated in the budget.
