The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president growing closeness to Prime Minister Narendra Modi put the Shiv Sena at the tight spot in the state politics even though the Sena is alliance partner with BJP in government.

On preceding Saturday Modi was in Baramati to inaugurate the agriculture expo where he revealed that Pawar is his very good friend and he always treat him like his senior leader and do seek his advice time to time on several issues. "There is not a month where we have not spoken with each other over the phone. In month, we speak twice or thrice sharing various issues and subjects. It is the beauty of the democracy that the different ideology sharing person can come together and discuss various issues pertaining to agriculture to nation," Modi admired Mr Pawar.

However, the admiration of Mr Pawar by prime minister has put the Sena in the peculiar situation in state politics. "Sena ministers for the state had alleged that the BJP cabinet ministers treat them shabbily and do not allow them handle the departments and files. We have no work, for the name sake we were made minister and the portfolios were allotted to us," alleged Sena ministers. Last week, Sena minister for state Sanjay Rathod had written letter to Sena President Uddhav Thackeray complaining about the BJP ministers and expressed desire to resign from the ministerial berth.

Political observer raised the doubts over this marriage of inconvenience between the Sena and BJP. "Pawar's going close to Modi, caste more shadow and suspect over the longevity of the Sena-BJP alliance. It is the message to Sena that, we have NCP at hand and that can be used any given day to discard the Sena if it continued to criticise the BJP government (Narendra Modi) in centre and state.

Recently, Uddhav Thackeray, Sena president had made remark after Delhi elections result that the tsunami (AAP) is bigger than the wave (Modi). "This comment had not gone well with the BJP leaders. Therefore, the alliance of Sena and BJP may not survive for long time looking at every day animosity between them," he observed.

Senior Sena leader on the condition of anonymity told dna that they do want to survive the alliance. "We do want to serve the people but we should not be humiliated. We are in power but we do not get feeling that we are really sharing the power with BJP. We have been given the secondary treatment. Even while doing the IAS officers reshuffle recently, we were not consulted by the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Most of the decisions in government are taken arbitrarily. Even in cabinet meetings, our 'say' has no value. It has been simply ignored. And whenever we start raising the genuine issues regarding the alliance, then they threaten that they may go with the NCP leaders," said Sena leader.

Interestingly, late Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray had cordial relationship with the BJP leaders including Ex PM Atal Bihar Vajpai and senior BJP LK Advani and Thackeray word was counted final over the alliance issue in state. Now, duo Amit Shah and Modi had got the complete control over BJP and they are not good terms with the Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, but close to Opposition party leader Sharad Pawar. "Therefore the power equation has been totally changed in state and centre. Sena no more play the big brother role and it will be questionable how long they will play the second fiddle role as well," said political observer.
