A day after BJP MLA Sangeet Som's controversial remark over Taj Mahal, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has called the Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan  and Qutub Minar 'signs of slavery'

I have said this before too, all signs of slavery should be removed, said Khan.

"Why just only Taj Mahal, Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutab Minar, ed Fort, Agra's Taj Mahal...all of it should be demolished," said Khan.

The former Uttar Pradesh Minister, without taking Sangeet Som’s name said that he was not responding to him because people who have slaughterhouses running have no right to give any suggestions.

On Monday, the BJP stepped into the Som's controversy with party spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao describing Muslim rule in India as 'barbaric and a period of incomparable intolerance' while asserting that its members could hold any opinion they want on specific monuments.

Som had questioned the 17th-century architectural marvel's place in India's heritage and said history would be rewritten to erase Mughal emperors from it.

Som's comments during a visit to Meerut district prompted an angry response from All India Majlis-e- Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi who asked if the government would tell tourists not to visit the monument.
