On Sunday, actor and BJP MP Paresh Rawal launched another attack on Congress claiming  that it would be  a ‘sin and moral turpitude’, to vote on the basis of ‘caste and creed’ in the land of ‘Gautam Buddha-like Narendra Modi.”

Addressing a gathering while attending PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat event in Rajkot, he was quoted saying by Indian Express: “Such a man (like Narendra Modi) is difficult to find. Such a man can only come after much worship. Such dynamic persons are incarnations and can’t be produced by politics. If we decide to vote on the basis of caste and creed in the state of a man who has left his family and everything else behind and, like Gautam Buddha, is out to serve the country, we could be ungrateful people. It would be a sin, a moral turpitude. We can’t do it. We are people of the land of Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi.”

Rawal went on to ask whether parents wanted their son to be Rahul Gandhi or Narendra Modi. He urged people to vote for whoever they picked. He also suggested that Congress was using Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani, to save Rahul Gandhi’s political career. Rawal was in the eye of the storm after allegedly comparing royals to monkeys. Rawal however apologised, claiming his ‘monkey’ comment was aimed at the Nizam of Hyderabad and not Rajputs. The Karni Sena, in the news over the protests against Padmavati, had warned Paresh Rawal over his statement.

He said: “I apologise unconditionally to all the members of Rajput community. I don't know why I spoke those words. I never intended to hurt sentiments of any community: Paresh Rawal on his earlier statement allegedly comparing royals and music with monkeys.”

He had apologised earlier as well, claiming that the message wasn’t for the Rajput community but aimed at ‘Nizam of Hyderabad’.‘My statement was not on the Rajput community. They are a splendour community in India and they make us proud. Nothing wrong will come out of my mouth against such a brave community,’ Rawal told the media. awal was in the eye of the storm a few days ago, when he wrote and deleted a tweet regarding the 'Yuva Desh's derogatory meme. However, he later issued an apology for ‘hurting feelings’.

In the tweet that is now deleted, he had written, ‘Our Chai-Wala is any day better than tour Bar-Wala !’ The 67-year-old actor-turned-politician was responding to the ‘Indian Youth Congress' online magazine ‘Yuva Desh,’ where they tweeted a picture of Prime Minister Modi in conversation with U.S President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May. However, later he issued an apology and wrote, ‘Deleted the tweet as it’s in bad taste n I apologise for hurting feelings.’
