Panel to study psychological pressure on jail inmates

The government has constituted a five member committee to study the stress and other related psychological pressure on inmates of central jail and to suggest measures to prevent attempts to commit suicide by them.

The government has constituted a five member committee to study the stress and other related psychological pressure on inmates of central jail and to suggest measures to prevent attempts to commit suicide by them.

A notification of the Home Department of Puducherry said on Wednesday the committee was headed by the Chief Superintendent of Jails. The committee would study the design and structure of the prison and suggest changes or improvements in the infrastructure to prevent suicide attempts by the inmates by studying the stress and other related psychological pressure on them.

The Committee would submit its report to the government within three months.
