A police personnel and the CEO of a business venture run by Dera Sacha Sauda have been arrested in connection with the violence in Panchkula after Ram Rahim Singh's conviction in rape cases on August 25.

Police have arrested head constable Lal Singh, who was posted in the intelligence wing.

Lal Singh, who was not on official duty was seen in the video footage outside the District Courts complex on August 25, reported Tribune India.

Police have also arrested the CEO of a business venture run by Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda.

CP Arora, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MSG All India Trading International Pvt limited, was arrested from Panchkula by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Haryana Police, Panchkula Police Commissioner A S Chawla said.

According to the police, Arora had already been booked for allegedly conspiring to incite violence on August 25.

Following the conviction of Ram Rahim, violence erupted in Panchkula and Sirsa districts of Haryana leaving 41 people dead and several injured.

Ram Rahim was found guilty of rape in a case that stemmed from an anonymous written complaint in April 2002 that he had sexually exploited two female followers. The case was registered by the CBI in December 2002 on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A special CBI court in Panchkula has sentenced the Dera chief to 20-year-imprisonment, two sentences of 10 years rigorous imprisonment in each of the two cases.

During the trial for the quantum of sentencing, a special court at Rohtak prison had compared Ram Rahim Singh as a wild beast.

The court has also fined him Rs 15 lakh in each of the two cases, of which Rs 14 lakh each would go to the two victims who were part of his sect and were coerced into having sex with him.
