Palghar: Woman raped repeatedly after being promised job

A 23-year-old woman, who came to Mumbai in search of a job was allegedly raped repeatedly for nearly a year by a 57-year-old man in Arnala locality of Virar in Palghar, rural police said on Monday.

According to API NK Jangam of Virar police station, the victim landed in the house of the accused, Tejpal Singh in October 2013 and lived there after he promised to get her a job.

During the stay, the man, an engineer hailing from Uttar Pradesh repeatedly abused the young woman but did nothing to find her employment.

After a complaint by the victim recently, offences were registered under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC against him and he was arrested, police added.
