Thursday morning was a historic day for RTDC and its Palace on Wheels as the royal train arrived with 86 passengers aboard.

In a first, there was an extra coach attached to the train that once struggled to get enough passengers on board to even ply regularly. The regular capacity of the train is 82, but when it arrived at Gandhi Nagar railway station on Thursday morning, it was an achievement unlocked.

Riding it at the time were passengers of various nationalities like 19 from USA, nine from UK, while others were from Spain, Isreal, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium. Incidentally, the two tourists from Israel are travelling at a time when their premier is also in the country. Hospitalilty wise, no stone was left unturned as the guests were greeted with garlands and accorded a traditional Rajasthani welcome. Two well-decorated elephants were also present to give them a grand welcome.

Sources inform, "In the upcoming trips, the RTDC expects to run with same capacity, all thanks to our intense marketing efforts."

The train is on the new rake, which was earlier used for Royal Rajasthan on wheels (RROW) and the coaches were renovated.
