Pakistani troops once again target Indian posts in Jammu

Pakistani troops used mortar shells, rockets and automatic weapons to target Indian posts in Ramgarh and Nikki Tawi areas of the International Border during Wednesday night. No casualty on the Indian side has been reported, officials said.

A senior paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) officer told IANS that Pakistani troops used 82 mm mortars, other heavy weapons and automatics to target BSF posts in Ramgarh sector of Samba district and Nikki Tawi area of the International Border in Jammu district during the night. "Pakistan shelling started at 12 am (midnight) and continued till 2 am. Our troops strongly retaliated Pakistan shelling."

"Firing exchanges continued in these areas till 2 a.m. today (Thursday)," the officer said.

Pakistan has been repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement, especially since the beginning of this year. There have been 250 violations of bilateral ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border by Pakistan Rangers this year so far in the state.

Many villagers living close to the International Border in Samba and Akhnoor sectors have left their homes after Pakistan shells started exploding close to their homes and fields.
