Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali's concert cancelled after threats by BJP ally Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena's cine wing, Chitrapat Sena, has already met the Shanmukhanand hall authorities in Matunga to cancel the show of acclaimed ghazal singer Ghulam Ali.

After the Shiv Sena threatened to protest against Ghulam Ali's concert in Mumbai, the noted Pakistani singer has cancelled his show. Ghulam Ali will not be coming for the concert which was to be held on October 9, event organiser Randhir Roy has said. According to reports the show was cancelled after organisers met with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Amidst ties between India and Pakistan hitting a deadlock, Shiv Sena which is part of the ruling NDA had now demanded for stopping all cultural ties with the neighbouring country.

According to reports, Shiv Sena's cine wing, Chitrapat Sena, has already met the Shanmukhanand hall authorities in Matunga to cancel the show of acclaimed ghazal singer Ghulam Ali. The programme is scheduled for October 9. The party has threatened that if the programme is not called off, Sena will register strong protest.

Chitrapat Sena's general secretary Akshay Badrapurkar was quoted as saying, "We are against any form of cultural association with Pakistan. We cannot have ties with a country that kills our soldiers. They are against us why should we let their singers perform here". 

Sena, on earlier occasions too, has protested against Pakistani artists performing in India. They also were against the Pakistani cricket team playing in India.

According to reports, the hall authorities have asked the organisers to give undertaking that there will be no risk at the show. The show may be cancelled if organisers fail to give any undertaking.
