Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon on Monday said efforts made by Pakistan to rein in terrorists on its soil would have to satisfy India's concerns more than that of the United States.

Responding to US Secretary of State John Kerry's move to credit Pakistan for taking action against terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), he said, "That's the satisfaction level of the United States. But then it is India which is immediately concerned with the terrorist activities in Pakistan. If Pakistan is at all sincerely and seriously combating terrorism and taking all positive steps to eliminate terrorist activities and that even it should satisfy India and not the US. And, I think, let the Indian authorities be satisfied with regard to this kind of a stand."

Congress leader Manish Tewari, however, chose to accuse Pakistan of being the epicenter of terrorism in the region.

"One thing is evident if Pakistan was doing enough there would not have been a daily situation in South Asia where Pakistan is blamed not only by India, but by its other neighbours for being the epicenter of terrorism in the region," he said.

Kerry's pat on Islamabad comes just ahead of his India visit where he is scheduled to attend Vibrant Gujarat summit.

Kerry will also visit Pakistan later this month to hold the Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad.
