Alarm bells are ringing for the security and political establishment after fresh reports suggest that Pakistan is trying to sabotage the Ramzan ceasefire in strife-torn Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are exercising utmost restraint as far as this holy month of Ramzan is concerned and the ceasefire, which has been promulgated by the government. While we are respecting what has been promulgated, Pakistan obviously does not intend to do so. We have had this infiltration bid over the last couple of days and it is something that is obvious to all of us," said Brigadier PK Mishra, Commander of 104 Brigade.

For the last two days, the Indian army has been battling highly motivated Pakistan-abetted militants on the icy heights and snow-capped mountains along the Line of Control in Tangdhar sector. Five militants, who had split into two groups, were eliminated after a fierce gun battle on the high altitude area of LoC on May 26.

Indian army recovered huge cache of weaponry, besides food items with Pakistan markings from the slain infiltrators, which clearly indicate that they were aided and abetted by Pakistan.

"The recoveries are indicative of active aiding and abetting of this kind of movement by Pakistan. We saw a lot of food items and equipment with Pakistan markings on them. I would like to highlight that the movement of the infiltrating column was detected from very close to the Pakistan post across the LoC", said Brigadier Mishra.

Commander of 104 brigade said militants are waiting to sneak into this side from the number of launching pads across the LoC. "Intelligence inputs suggest there are number of militants who are waiting to infiltrate into this side of LoC. We expect that they will be more such bids in future", he said.

The fresh revelations come on the heels of Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's appeal to Pakistan to respond positively to the ceasefire.

"People of the State have heaved a sigh of relief and now the need is to extend this gesture to borders as well for which Pakistan should respond positively. Peace prevailed along the borders for more than a decade after the ceasefire at borders was reached at in 2003", she said.
