Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said that mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, was put under house arrest immediately after a court granted him bail.

"Pakistan is moving decisively against terrorism, hope good results will be achieved. The bail was a judicial order, immediately after which the government moved swiftly and put him under house arrest. Pakistan Government also plans to challenge the bail order,"Basit said.

The decision on Thursday to grant bail to Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi came two days after Pakistan's worst ever militant attack, the killing by Pakistani Taliban gunmen of 132 children and nine members of staff at a school in the city of Peshawar. Earlier on Tuesday, members of the banned terrorist outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar.

According to reports, the terrorists stormed the Peshawar school dressed as Frontier Corps' officers. One of the militants reportedly blew himself up, while the others were gunned down by security agencies. Hundreds of people were taken hostage within the school premises before the terrorists were eliminated.

After the incident, Hafiz Saeed reportedly blamed India for the attacks and has allegedly vowed revenge, claiming the strikes were a conspiracy against Pakistan.
