More than 14 people have been killed in the Pakistani shelling on Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) since January 17.   More than 50 people have suffered injuries and 50,000 people have fled their homes in Jammu division.

On Wednesday Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu said they are responding to any firing (from Pakistan) in a very professional manner.

“We are very strong on the LoC and respond in a very professional manner and ensure that our aim is achieved. We do not let any infiltrators come in. We are very strong in that”, he said.

The army commander noted that nearly 200 to 250 militants are waiting in the south of Pir Panjal and 200 and 250 are waiting in the north of Pir Panjal to infiltrate.

“In altogether 500 odd militants are waiting to go. If these people infiltrate and get eliminated, you have more terrorists being sent to the camps and that number will keep getting filled. But what is important for us is not let any infiltration take place. We have to eliminate them at the border and that is what we are focusing on. We have taken large measures”, he said
