Pakistan army killed another army soldier on Friday night when they resorted to heavy firing and shelling on the Indian forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Keran sector.
Now the toll of Indian soldiers killed by Pakistan army and rangers on the LoC and International Border (IB) has climbed to 14 since Indian army carried out the surgical strikes on the terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir on September 29.

The latest provocation occurred on Friday night when Pakistan army resorted to heavy firing and shelling and one of the soldiers sustained splinter wounds after a shell exploded near his post. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. “Pakistan violated ceasefire in Keran sector last night. A soldier, who had sustained injuries, later succumbed,” said Colonel Rajesh Kalia, defence spokesman, Srinagar.
Awami Ithaad Party (AIP) Chairman Sheikh Abdul Rasheed, who represents Langate constituency of the border district of Kupwara in the Legislative Assembly, lambasted the government for ignoring people living in Keran and adjoining areas along the LoC in north Kashmir. “The least the government could have done was to provide concrete bunkers to the people and shifted the families well in time,” said Rasheed
Figures reveal, since surgical strikes, Pakistan has carried out more than 110 ceasefire violations. Indian troops have foiled 61 Pakistan abetted infiltration bids both across LoC and IB since September 29. Around 405 incidents of cross border firing have taken place along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015 killing 16 civilians. Out of these, 253 took place along the International Border and 152 along the Line of Control.
