Pak Army returns Indian woman who crossed over LoC in 'act of goodwill'

Pakistan Army on Tuesdday handed over an Indian woman, who had inadvertently crossed into the country through the Line of Control, to the Indian security forces.

Pakistan Army on Tuesdday handed over an Indian woman, who had inadvertently crossed into the country through the Line of Control, to the Indian security forces.

The Army, in a statement, said the woman was handed over to the Indian security forces in Kashmir in a goodwill gesture and in continuation of its efforts to maintain peace and tranquillity along the LoC.

The woman, Azmat Jan, who hails from Kashmir inadvertently crossed over the LoC at Chirikot Sector, the Army said.

However, it was not clear when she crossed the border.

She has been returned to Kashmir at Rawala-Poonch crossing point on humanitarian grounds, it said.

Civil and military officials of both the sides were present on the occasion, the statement said.
