West Bengal's biggest festival - Durga Puja is about to begin. Like every year, many puja committees have made theme based pandals which are the talk of the town. But among the hundreds of theme pujas, the one in Kolkata builtt on a Padmaavat theme has gathered the maximum eyeballs so far. Kolkata's Shree Bhumi Sporting Club has chosen  Padmaavat  as the theme for their Durga puja pandal.

People of Kolkata will be able to visit their very own Chittorgarh Fort and feel the ambiance of the film set of Padmaavat. The Durga idol adorns golden jewellery worth more than Rs.10 crores. The Goddess Durga is also made to look like Rani Padmaavati.

The entire pandal has been constructed in a way to look exactly like the Chittorgarh Fort, even the interiors have been replicated. The interiors too have lamps and chandeliers that are similar to those in the fort. An environment of Rajasthan will be created in the coming days with Ghoomar artistes from the desert state arriving here to play music. White horse statues are stationed at the entrance making the pandal a spectacular sight for the disciples and other visitors.

Even before starting of Durga Puja, hundreds and thousands of people have already started thronging the puja pandal.  This is not the first time Sreebhumi has drawn inspiration from movies. In 2017, the pandal was modelled after the sets of the blockbuster Bahubali 2. The puja witnessed a record turnout.

"Every year people of Bengal look forward to our Durga puja. Last year we had record breaking people visit the puja pandal when the theme was Bahubali 2. This year, we anticipate more people will come and visit us as they are curious to know what a film set or Chittorgarh Fort looks in reality. We will create an environment where people will feel they are in Rajasthan,” said Sujit Bose, puja organiser and TMC MLA.
