It was a field day for Twitter users after news of the CBI and Income Tax departments conducting raids on senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav respectively, broke out.

While Chidambaram and Lalu cried foul, on what they feel is a ‘personal vendetta’, Twitterati took it upon themselves to declare the two leaders guilty.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram accused the government of using the CBI and other agencies of targeting his son and his friends.

Chidambaram also alleged that the government's aim is to silence his voice and stop him from writing, as it has tried to do in the cases of leaders of Opposition parties, journalists, columnists, NGOs and civil society organizations.

Maintaining the same stand as his father, former finance minister P. Chidambaram's son Karti on Tuesday alleged the Centre of manufacturing raids to silence his voice.

"This raid is being carried out only because of political vendetta," Karti told the media here outside his residence before being carted by the CBI.

Lalau Yadav, too, said that nobody can silence him and questioned which 22 places were being raided.

"BJP doesn't have the guts to silence Lalu's voice. If you try this, crores of Lalus will stand up across the country," Lalu Prasad Yadav said in series of tweets.

In another tweet, he said he will continue to fight against fascist forces and will not be scared by these tactics.

Taking a dig at the media, Lalu added, "All you educated illiterates, tell me which 22 places were raided. Lalu doesn't fear BJP-supporting media and other alliances."
