Skirting a question on Congress leader Digvijay Singh's abusive remark on social media about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former union minister P Chidambaram on Saturday lent an advice to journalists not to follow social media.

Singh was trolled on social media after he tweeted criticising PM Modi with abusive language. Later, Singh disowned the 'meme', but retaliated those who trolled him by questioning as to why these people were silent when Gandhi family members were abused via tweets.

Chidambaram refused to comment on Digvijay Singh's remark and asked, "Where has he said it? Has he written it in his column?" When the reporter pointed out that Singh had tweeted it, Chidambaram replied, "I don't follow social media at all, and you should also follow my example. Instead of looking at WhatsApp all the time, you can read a good book.'

Terming demonetisation as a wrong decision, Chidambaram said that none of the three promises have been fulfilled and country has seen decreasing of GDP after the decision. He also pointed out that counterfeit of new Rs 2,000 note is already in circulation, terror attacks have not gone down but have increased in Jammu and Kashmir. Replying to a question on GST, he said, "GST is a good idea, but it is being implemented badly."
