OROP row: PM Modi has let me down, says Ram Jethmalani

Expressing his support for ex-servicemen's on protest for implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme, senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completely frustrated his dream off him.

I want to fight and fight the evil forces that have unfortunately entered our political system. The politicians unfortunately have led down the entire system. I have come here to assure the ex-servicemen. I've no other ambition left in life except to return love and affection that I have enjoyed from the people of India, he said.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is your enemy and the enemy of the nation. They might go to court against me. I am ashamed to say that Modi has completely frustrated my dream off him, he added.

One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme has been a long-standing demand of nearly three-million ex-servicemen and war widows in the country. It seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to defence personnel, who retire at the same rank with the same length of service irrespective of their date of retirement.
