Lashing out at opposition for trying to stall the Parliament proceedings, Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday blamed them for attempting to divide the society on communal lines and stall the development of the country.

Gadkari also flayed the Trinamool Congress government for failing to bring in development in West Bengal and promised economic progress under the leadership of Narendra Modi. "Some parties are trying to stall the Parliament proceedings on the basis of communal lines. They are trying to create a division between the majority and the minority sections. They don't want the development of the country," Gadkari said.

"The people of India will decide whether it is for a politics of development or a politics of communalism," Gadkari said adding BJP wanted to eliminate the politics based on caste and religious lines. The senior BJP leader said the Union Transport ministry will give Rs 10,000 crore to West Bengal for development of roads.

"Apart from developing the transport system of the country, we also want to develop the inland waterways, which is very cheap. In Bengal too we will provide a waterbus. We will give Rs 10,000 crore to the state to develop roads within next one year," Gadkari said.

"Bengal has every potential to develop itself. But investments and development are not coming to Bengal. We will develop Bengal under the leadership of Narendra Modi at Centre. We don't want to mix politics with governance," Gadkari said. "We have full faith that Lotus (BJP) too will bloom in Bengal in days to come. We want to end the votebank politics," the BJP leader said. Gadkari also lashed out at the previous Congress regime at the Center for looting public money.
