Good news for commuters on the Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains! The two premier class trains are set to undergo a makeover under project 'Operation Swarn' and the Railway Board plans to completely revamp the trains with better amenities.

The plan will first be put in motion for the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express and the Mumbai- Ahmedabad Shatabdi train. There are around 50 pairs of Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express train services run by Indian Railways. These trains would soon be on par with the newly launched Tejas Express.

The project is expected to be completed by September this year, according to a TOI report. "Every Shatabdi and Rajdhani train will be given a sum of Rs 50 lakh each for expenditure on priority items," an official told the daily.

The Railway Board decided to undertake the upgradation due to increasing complaints from passengers with regards to quality of food, sanitation as well as the condition of toilets and linen.

In the upgraded version, passengers would be provided with services such as Wi-fi, coffee vending machines and infotainment screens.
