Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has instructed officials to take strict steps to control prices of essential commodities in open market.Chandy at a meeting held to review the steps taken to check price rise of food grains yesterday instructed officials to ensure that prices of commodities in markets of government run shops should not be higher than open market.
Chandy also wanted officials to keep enought stock of food articles especially in view of the coming Onam festival. To check prices of vegetables, Chandy wanted the Horticorp, and Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council to sell vegetables at 30 per cent less than the price prevaling in open market.
Meeting called for the intervention of Horticorp to check the price of onion. Minister food Anoop Jacob and Chief Secretary E K Bharatbhushan were among those attended the meeting.
