Only PMO was updated on Rahul Gandhi's location: Reports

Indian media speculated over the whereabouts of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi as he left the country on February 16, 2015 on a sabbatical to introspect over the party affairs.

But it was only on March 2, 2015 people came to know that Rahul was in Thailand after leading English newspaper from the country, Bangkok Post, confirmed it.

These details of Rahul Gandhi's location were reported to Prime Minister's Office on regular basis. However, The Ministry of Home Affairs including Home Minister Rajnath Singh was not kept in the loop.The government was only concerned on the security aspect for which Thai Intelligence agencies were alerted, said top official.

Upon asking if Rahul visited other countries, the official said that revealing this information would be a serious breach of an individual's privacy.

SPG had also informed PMO on Rahul's return from Bangkok to New Delhi 24 hours in advance.
