Speaking to DNA, Sunil Mane, social media coordinator of Bapat who lodged the complaint said, "I came across the page. His original page is by the name of Girish Bapat, but here the person used Namdar Girish Bapat in devnagari script."

"The person also used some of Bapat's photographs to project his page as a genuine one. He sent friend requests to other people who are known to the minister. The person even posted some objectionable posts on the page using the minister's name," Mane added.

When contacted, senior Inspector Radhika Phadke of cyber cell told DNA, "After we received the complaint, we sought details of the account from Facebook. We tracked Nalawade after getting the information."
