The driver of a tractor was injured when Pakistani Rangers fired a few rounds to stop BSF troops from working close to the fence along the International Border in Arnia sector of Jammu on Friday.

The fresh ceasefire violation comes a day after Pakistan resorted to heavy shelling on Indian forward posts and adjacent villages along the Line of Control (LoC), leaving a woman dead and her husband critically injured in Naushera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu division.

A BSF spokesman said Pakistani Rangers, without provocation, fired on an operational and area maintenance party when they at 6.30 am. "A bullet hit the tractor used by the BSF on the field. The driver sustained a minor scratch," said the spokesperson.

BSF troops immediately swung into action and gave a befitting response to silence the Pakistani guns. "They (Pakistani Rangers) tried to vitiate the situation by targeting our duty points. Alert BSF troops responded in a controlled and accurate manner," he said.
