Prasanta Biswas (35), a resident of Bongaon, was arrested for making the call to Air India's city office yesterday and he is presently being interrogated, city police sources said.

A special team set up which comprises officers of the STF and the detective department was tracking the number from which the call was made to the national carrier's city office, a senior police officer had earlier said.

Meanwhile, security was beefed up at the NSC Bose International Airport here following the anonymous telephone call threatening that an Air India plane would be hijacked.

Dog squad has been pressed into service in and around the terminal buildings while all luggage was manually checked beside the normal scanning procedures.

Airport officials said the policemen were keeping a close vigil on the airport's taxi stand and nearby areas.

The threat call was received at the state-carrier's city booking office at around 5.40 pm on Saturday and a complaint was subsequently lodged with the Bowbazar police station.
