A woman buried her stillborn baby boy few minutes after delivering him in a field near her house. Masuri Singh was seven months pregnant with her second baby and delivered on Wednesday morning when she had gone to attend nature's call early in the morning near her house in Dhipasahi village in Odisha's Nayagarh district. Realising that the baby was born dead, Masuri buried him in a pile of cowdung and later informed her parents about the incident.

Masuri, who is married to Hindu Singh of Keshapada was living with her parents after her husband left for Kerala nearly six months ago.

In Dhipasahi, Masuri came in contact with another man, Rabi Singh of Jalghut village in Nedam panchayat, and married him despite being pregnant Hindu's child.

Hindu was also informed about the birth of his stillborn male child by his in-laws. He rushed back from Kerala to Keshapada on Thursday. On Saturday he went to Dhipasahi to bring back Masuri home. The couple already has a daughter together.

“I was staying in Kerala when I was informed about the turn of events and reached the village to bring her back. I got to know that she has delivered and buried the child saying it was stillborn,” said Hindu.

Some of the villagers informed the police about the spot where the body was dumped. However, Masuri did not reveal where she had dumped the baby and said, "Not knowing what to do with the child, I buried him. As he was dead, I decided to bury him."

Meanwhile, the police is investigating into the matter and it is yet to ascertain the conditions under which the woman buried her own newborn baby.
