Prime minister Narendra Modi has chosen minister for power, coal and new & renewable energy Piyush Goyal as the minister in waiting for US president Barack Obama due to his knowledge on power issues that are an intrinsic to the nuclear deal and his suave background that comes from his brilliant educational background.

However, eager to change the atmospherics to his advantage, Modi broke the established protocol and went himself to the airport to receive the US president and remained with him for major part of the day that was packed with several engagements.

The arrangements laid out for president Obama, more elaborate than ever before, were interspersed with impressive photo-ops showing "Modi" and "Barack" together in a tete-a-tete on several occasions, apparently, to convey PM Modi's engagement with POTUS Obama on a grand scale and on equal footing to the world.

The two leaders showed the warmth between the relations of the two nations by hugging each other at least twice. They were together at lawns of Hyderabad House, the venue for bilateral talks, for more than 15 minutes sharing thoughts and lighter moments over a cup of tea

PM Modi utilised the joint presser to his advantage by departing little from the formality and referring to the US president by his first name "Barack" on more than two occasions to convey that the two leaders have developed a close friendship and "personal chemistry" that matter more and goes beyond "commas" and "full stops" of negotiations.

To a question, what the two leaders discussed tete-a-tete, PM Modi said, "I'm fairly new in this area, but with this little experience that I have gained in this short period of time I can say that relations between two countries depend less on full stops and commas and more between relationship between leaders, the openness, how much they know each other, and the chemistry between them matters more and is very important."

"In fact, far from the camera when we speak we become closer to each other. Barack and I have forged a friendship. There is openness when we talk and we even joke and share a lot together. I think this is the chemistry which has not only brought Barak and I closer but also the New Delhi and Washington closer and the people of the two countries closer. Personal chemistry between the leaders is very important and this can only grow."

Caught a little unawares by rather an informal reply, President Obama was quick to add that the "personal friendship" that they have been able to build in a fairly brief amount of time was also "reflecting the warmth and affection between the Indian people and the American people."

Adding to PM Modi's remark, President Obama said, "A part of the reason we are such natural partners is because we share values as former colonies, as two largest democracies in the world, as entrepreneurial nations, as people who believe in the freedom, dignity, and worth of all individuals. So it is not surprising that we have a friendship because we hopefully were reflecting the values of our peoples."
