In order to combat a terror threat in crowded environs of Delhi Metro, the NSG has imparted an innovative French 'obstacle clearing' training to its 'black cat' commandos.

The skill has been popularised in Bollywood films after actors Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff learnt it for their action packed on-screen roles.

The unarmed technique is called 'Parkour' and it essentially trains a student of this discipline to use to the hilt his energies to jump, hop, climb, roll, swing, flip and vault over a series of obstacles and disruptions in a crowded or free area and ensure that the person practising it reaches the target in quick time by sidetracking others.

"While NSG commandos are trained in unarmed combat skills, a dose of 'Parkour' empowers him to take precise operations or tasks in an area like the vulnerable Delhi Metro which witnesses a huge footfall and is a closed area," an NSG officer said.

The commando, with the confidence of this skill, can lunge on an attcker or terrorist and neutralise him before he creates trouble.

The latest skill, which NSG is first to introduce for any special force in the country, can also be used by commandos in counter-hijack and counter-terror operations while carrying their weapons.

The commandos displayed these skills during a demonstration at their garrison here to mark their 30th Raising Day.
