Chetan Bhagat has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party in a series their tweets over their handling of the Modi degree. Earlier, the Delhi University said, that Modi's degree was authentic seeking to put a lid on the swirling row over his educational qualification and termed as "minor error" discrepancies in his mark sheets and degree certificate, which the AAP has claimed are forged.

DU registrar Tarun Das said the university has all relevant records of Modi's graduation and downplayed mention of 1979 as the year of his passing out when he had actually cleared his BA a year earlier. He also sought to downplay variations in his name.

This led popular author Chetan Bhagat to write on Twitter: "I hope the media learns a lesson and doesn't waste time and headlines on baseless allegations such as the degree fiasco. To think that a PM would fake a degree and present it to the public only coz someone screamed allegations is a bit much. Grow up AAP."

He added: "There's 1.3billion people in this country. Each have their problems. Let's focus on that rather than baseless attention seeking politics. Make no mistake, AAP has had a massive credibility loss in degree fiasco. Hope media is careful & checks facts before taking them seriously."

Reacting to DU's admission, He wrote: "Now what? The DU is fake? DU officials are bhakts? Media has been bought? Degree was for sale? Think fast guys. Sad when party that promised to change India, turns into a rumor monger and loony conspiracy theorist. All to be in the news. Hate Modi? Come to me. For I attack him, even if for no reason. That seems to be the only strategy for a particular party right now."
