Ram Shankar Katheria was on Tuesday removed from the post of MoS Human Resource Development minister.
Ram Shankar Katheria whose career as MoS human resource development minister came to an end on Tuesday said he felt like a ‘free bird’.
Speaking exclusively to dna, Katheria said, “Now I am free to speak my mind. As a party worker, now I am fearless and can speak out for the welfare of the Hindus. There is going to be no further media bashing for whatever I say.”
Katheria’s career as MoS was marred with controversies over his anti-Muslim remarks at Agra, his political constituency. He is expected to play a larger role in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. Katheria who had been in news for taking the law and order situation in his hands on several occasions in UP, is now fearless.
“I have no regrets about being dropped. I am a party man and will continue to work for the betterment of the party,” he said.
Katheria who has long been associated with the RSS also said that party has decided that he is required there. Referring to his recent meeting with BJP chief Amit Shah, he said, “I was told that, I am
needed for party work,” he said.
While his role in UP election has not been defined so far, he is expected to play a major role in vote polarization. “UP is very important for us. The party plans to go all out in UP. Party will need me there,” he said.
As MoS, higher education in the HRD, Katheria did not have a major role to play. Smriti Irani took the entire system in her hand leaving no scope for Katheria. In fact for months after swearing in, Katheria did not have an office space.
In his one year as MoS, Katheria worked with just one personal assistant. “We had asked for one PS and one OSD, but till now it was not approved off,” said his close aide.
No major file in the HRD ever reached Katheria’s desk in one year. His office was always clueless about the day to day affairs of the higher education sector. He was only used as fillers in attending
institutional functions where Irani could not make.
