Now Gujarat has its own GST babies: Garavi Sanchi Taravi

Earlier, a woman in Rajasthan had named her baby born on June 30 midnight as GST.

A family in Gujarat has named their new born daughters after initial of Goods and Services Tax (GST). They call them Garavi, Sanchi and Taravi.  

"Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi brought in GST- One Tax-One Nation, we were inspired by it and named our daughters after it," said Kanchan Patel, mother of the girls while talking to ANI. 

Earlier, a woman in Rajasthan had named her baby born on June 30 midnight as GST. She decided to name him 'GST' as he was born at 12.02 am in Beawa.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje tweeted about it saying: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) - India's biggest tax reform since independence - came into force after 17 tumultuous years of debate at the stroke of midnight on June 30. The new tax regime was ushered in at a late night event in the historic Central Hall of Parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the new levy as "good and simple tax" that marks economic integration of India.

Government extends deadline for filing of GSTR 

Giving a long rope to industry, the GST Council recently extended the last date for filing final returns by a month to October 10.

Also, for easier compliance, the council allowed businesses to file simplified GSTR-3B for four more months till December.

The increased GST cess on mid- sized, luxury and SUV cars will come into effect from today (September 11).

The GST Council on September 9 decided to hike cess on mid-sized cars by 2 per cent, taking the effective GST rate to 45 per cent.

Also, cess on large cars has been hiked by 5 per cent, taking the total GST incidence to 48 per cent while that of SUVs by 7 per cent to 50 per cent.
