A small village in Nagpur – state's first digital district – can now boast of an 'ATM' that can release 7/12 extracts just like an ATM (automated teller machine) spits out money.

The machine would be the first of its kind to be set up anywhere in the country for providing information pertaining to land ownership record.

According to Nagpur Collector Sachin Kurve, the machine is ready and will be installed in 2-3 days. He said the machine would work on similar lines of a normal ATM.

"One has to enter the requisite details like survey number etc and deposit Rs.20 (either two 10-rupee coins or a Rs.20 note). The machine would then deliver the extract in print," he said.

Forbes Technologies Ltd of Shapoorji Pallonji developed this unique ATM for Fetri village, which already has optical fibre connectivity.

The village is getting this unique distinction, thanks to it being selected by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as his adopted village. The village is fast being transformed into 'Adarsh' or ideal village under the Aamdar Adarsh Gram Yojana. A pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the plan envisages that every MP and MLA adopt one village each and strive to transform it into an ideal village.

The state government has also embarked upon creating 'Mahanet' – on the lines of Bharatnet – to provide connectivity to all 40,000 villages of the state. Chief Minister Fadnavis, along with CEO of networking giant CISCO, Chuck Robbins, had launched the digital manufacturing facility of CISCO in Pune on October 12. Both Fadnavis and Robbins interacted with schoolchildren from Fetri village through real-time video conferencing from Mumbai on the occasion. Fadnavis also announced strategic partnership with CISCO and a few other domains for achieving the technology intervention for providing digital education, health and other services in state.

Fadnavis is taking keen interest in transforming Nagpur and already all the gram panchayats in Nagpur have been digitally connected.

7/12 extract

The 7/12 extract is the portion from the Land Register of any district in Maharashtra, which gives complete information about a certain piece of land. It is named after the 2 forms that are used to collect the information for the extract:

1. Village Form VII which records the details of the owner and rights.
2. Village Form XII which records the agricultural aspects of the land.
