Columnist Shobhaa De wrote in an article how she was not impressed with Kate's dressing style and how the Duchess should not have "covered up" that much.

The British royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently in India. During their trip, the couple met with young Indian entrepreneurs, chatted with Bollywood celebrities, spent time with underprivileged children, visited the Prime Minister and were even seen playing a friendly game of cricket along with cricket star Sachin Tendulkar.
However, what has made most news during their journey so far is the Duchess of Cambridge and her dresses she chose to wear during her trip. While some thought it apt to put pictures of her windswept billowy dress on the front page, some decided to write paragraphs on end about her un-pedicured feet.

Now, writer and columnist Shobhaa De has decided to share some gyaan on how she felt the Duchess should not have covered herself up and should have forgotten the 'protocol and worn her heart on her sleeve.' Wear less and you wouldn't hear the end of it, cover yourself up and you are at risk of being called drab or mistaking India for an Arabian setting or as succinctly worded by De in her column, "Honey, the Duchess was in Mumbai, not Abu Dhabi."
This is what De had to say about Middleton's Jenny Packham royal blue gown:

De further goes on to dissect each dress worn by Middleton so far during her India tour and later adds a touch of needless body shaming because articles about influential women need a little bit of that to make them masaaledar, don't they? De writes that she is thankful that Middleton did not opt to wear a saree. Why? Because "a saree needs curves. A saree demands a derriere. Kate has none." If women started taking this stuff seriously, none of us would really get to wear the outfit of our choice for the lack or presence of "curves."
So, did De write anything at all about Prince William then? Yes, after scrutinising and deconstructing Middleton's dresses and her body shape and stringing paragraphs on her and her stylist, De finally wrote few words on William's dressing style saying " he looked hot enough."
