Not faking news: Woman names her kid 'Uber' after she gives birth in cab

A woman who delivered her baby on the way to the hospital after being helped by the driver has decided to name her new-born baby Uber, a leady daily reports.

The incident took place in Delhi on Thursday night when the woman hired a cab from Uber after repeated emergency calls for an ambulance went unanswered. The woman was accompanied by two others. Shahnawaz, the Uber driver told the daily: ""I had asked them to call an ambulance, but the women said that they couldn't get one."

Shahnawaz says he drove the trio towards Safdarjung Hospital but had to halt. "The woman was writhing in pain and her friends did not know what to do," said Shahnawaz. According to the report, the trio made a labour room of the cab and helped the woman deliver the baby. "I pulled out the towels from the seats and poured some drinking water into a bowl. The child was born within minutes and I was really happy to see that he was responding,"  he told the daily.

The woman added: "He picked me up, put me on a stretcher and dragged it into the hospital."

Shahnawaz was asked by doctors if he was her husband. "I narrated the entire incident after which they congratulated me. This was one of the happiest moment of my life," he said. The woman's family now wants the driver to name the child. At a ceremony on Sunday, Shahnawaz will name the baby after the company he works for— Uber.
