PM Narendra Modi's comments during his recent three-nation Asia tour have caused a storm on social media.

"There was a time when people left India saying the country is of no good. These people are ready to come back. The mood has changed," the Prime Minister said, adding that India is being seen as the fastest growing economy of the world.

According to The Hindu, PM Modi said in Shanghai that, "Earlier, you felt ashamed of being born Indian, now you feel proud to represent the country. Indians abroad had all hoped for a change in government last year.”

Predictably, this did not go down well with many, who took to Twitter to express their displeasure.

Omar Abdullah tweeted several times expressing his angst over PM Modi's comment:
