Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday continued his attack against the central government, declaring that rolling back a few goods from GST's ambit was not a 'Diwali gift to people' but was a result of people's unhappiness with the Union Government.

Speaking at the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai, the Sena chief said it was inevitable that the government would roll back parts of the GST since the entire country was expressing its anger.

Taking a swipe at PM Modi's comment that the GST cuts were a Diwali gift, Thackeray said when people can't celebrate festivals when they are robbed of their money.

Thackeray also criticised the government for non-availability of coal, which has resulted in widespread, and longer, power cuts across the state.

"The arrogant rulers had to bow down before the might of people....they (the government) had become helpless after feeling the fire burning inside people. After the GST cuts, the government should do something for the common man. Reduce inflation, fuel prices and stop load shedding," he said.
