Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said states in North East India should focus on a second green revolution through organic farming, adding that the region can become a leader in such products across the world.

"The North-East should focus on a second green revolution through organic farming. It can share products all over the world. There is also great scope here for the milk revolution and revolution in animal husbandry," Modi said during the inauguration of Palatana Thermal power plant.

Referring to the four colours of the Indian flag, Prime Minister Modi talked of four revolutions which he looked forward to – the second green revolution for agriculture; a white revolution for milk and animal husbandry; a saffron revolution, for energy development, including renewable energy development; and a blue revolution, for fisheries and marine development.

The Prime Minister also stressed on the Act East policy, stating that the North-East is essential for the strategy. "My first programme in this region was linked with speed and this one with energy. For development, we need both. We also need direction. We have always spoken of the Look East policy, now it is time for the Act East policy. Based on that, we want to proceed forward rapidly in order to develop the entire North- East region," said Modi. "The North-East will not remain backward now. As the gateway to Asia, it has the potential to move forward in this century, which is being called the century of Asia," added Modi.

Prime Minister Modi also said about New Delhi's readiness to export electricity to Bangladesh should the neighbouring country decides to buy it from India.

"Tripura was the area which had stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Bangladesh during the Mukti agitation of 1971. I thank Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for facilitating movement of machinery which helped to build this plant. Such cooperation between our two countries is a message for the entire SAARC region," said Modi. "This plant also represents a model of cooperation between various North-East states," concluded Modi.
