A non-bailable warrant was issued against former Goa Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat by the North Goa District and Sessions Court for not remaining present in the court in person or through his counsel. The court was hearing the controversial Louis Berger bribery case.

The warrant was cancelled within fifteen minutes as Kamat's lawyers pleaded before the court saying they couldn't reach the court due to some unavoidable circumstance.

Kamat is one of the main accused in the bribery case and he has already been chargesheeted. His anticipatory bail plea in the illegal mining case is also before the court and the Crime Branch has challenged the anticipatory bail granted to him in the Louis Berger bribery case before the Supreme Court.

Digambar Kamat, who was the chief minister of Goa from 2007 to 2012, along with the then PWD Minister Churchil Alemao are prime accused in the bribery case.
