Non-bailable warrant against Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari

A court here today issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari for failing to appear before it in a case related to alleged violation of model code of conduct during the 2007 UP Assembly polls.

Chief Judicial Magistrate KP Singh issued the warrant and directed the police to produce Bukhari before it on October 25. On a complaint by the Election Commission, the police had registered a case against Bukhari, UDF candidate Sabir Ali and member of Jama Masjid Advisory Committee Inam Qureshi for landing in a helicopter at an election meet venue in Khatoli town on April 10, 2007 without permission.
