No symptom of Ebola in Tamil Nadu man: Government says no need to panic

In the wake of state medical authorities screening a man who returned from an African country for Ebola, Tamil Nadu Government said on Mponday that he showed no symptom of contracting the virus and there was no need for panic as it was constantly monitoring the situation.

"There is no need for panic. Parthiban (who was kept under observation at a government hospital here yesterday) has been discharged after he showed no symptoms," of contracting the virus, Health and Family Welfare Minister C Vijayabaskar said in the state Assembly.

Intervening AISMK member R Sarath Kumar during the debate on grants for his department, he said awareness had been created among medical professionals in government hospitals in the state already on this issue and proper monitoring was being done.

The 26-year-old Parthiban was quarantined and kept under "screening and observation" at the Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital here on his return from Guinea, one of the African nations facing the outbreak of the deadly virus.
