A special court on Friday refused to allot a separate vehicle to Abhishek Verma's Romanian wife to commute between jail and court due to alleged threat to her life from other prisoners.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special judge Sanjeev Jain rejected the request of Anca Maria Neacsu, saying it was practically not feasible to provide a separate jail van to every prisoner.

"In my opinion, the safety and security of Anca may be ensured by the officials," he said.

Verma and his wife have been charged with corruption and forgery and the Official Secrets Act. They will be in judicial custody till Nov 16.

Verma is also an accused in the 2006 naval war room leak case in which classified documents were leaked from the directorate of naval operations.

The court directed the Tihar Jail superintendent and Delhi Armed Police to ensure the safety and security of Anca.

The court also directed that Anca should not to be transported in any van along with prisoners Rashmi Sharma, wife of key accused in a recent bank heist here, and Shivani.

Tihar officials told the court that the woman accused had been shifted to another jail. Another woman inmate had pledged not to harm Anca.
