No metro train till 2.30 pm in Delhi on Holi; Traffic Police warns against drunken driving

Delhi Metro services will only start in the afternoon tomorrow on account of Holi festival with the first train leaving from terminal stations at 2.30 pm. 

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that metro services on Friday will be available only after 2.30 pm and will run as usual for the rest of the day. 

"On the day of Holi Festival on March 2, metro services will not be available till 2.30 PM on all lines. The services will continue normally thereafter," DMRC said in a statement.

 

In addition, Metro feeder bus services will not be available for the whole day.

The Airport Line of the Metro which connects New Delhi railway station to Indira Gandhi International Airport will start operating from 2:30 pm. 

Meanwhile, Delhi Police today said warned people against drunken driving on the day of festival. 

"Saying it has deployed teams with alcometers at major intersections and vulnerable points. Special Traffic Police teams with interceptors will be stationed at various roads and places to check drunken driving, red light jumping and other traffic violations," Delhi Traffic police said in an advisory. 

 

While Holi is being celebrated in some parts of the country today, the festival of colours will be celebrated in Delhi tomorrow. 

Holika Dahan, the symbolic burning of evil be marked today. On the occasion of Holika Dahan, the day before Holi, people burn woods to fend off the evil, Holika and welcome goodness by playing with colours the next day.
