The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India on Wednesday said that there was no information about the location and health of Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of "spying".

MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay made the statement while addressing to media after the International Court of Justice's stayed Jadhav's execution on Tuesday.

"We had made 16 regular requests for consular access, despite that we have got no response on getting documents of the case, " said Baglay.

The MEA spokesperson also said that they don't know statues of the petition and appeal filed by Kulbhushan's mother against the order of the Pakistani military court.

Stating that India moved ICJ in Jadhav case after careful deliberations, in interest of saving life of the son of India, Baglay added that he is in illegal detention in Pakistan and his life is under threat.

He also said that the External Affairs Minister had written to Pakistan Foreign Adviser Sartaj Aziz on April 27 requesting visa for Jadhav's family

Jadhav, 46, was given death sentence last month by the Field General Court Martial in Pakistan, evoking a sharp reaction in India which warned Pakistan of consequences and damage to bilateral ties if the "pre-meditated murder" was carried out.

India acknowledges that Jadhav had served with the Navy but denies that he has any connection with the government.
